Deposit Mobilization of Vietnam Commercial Banks in The Context of Covid-19 Pandemic: Current Situation and Issues

Abstract

The article discusses the current situation of deposit mobilization of Vietnamese commercial banks in the two years 2020 - 2021 (with comparison with the period before the COVID-19 pandemic) with considerations of growth rate and deposit structure, interest rates, products and mobilization channels. On the basis of assessing the current situation of deposit mobilization and the problems in deposit mobilization of Vietnamese commercial banks, the author of the article proposes some recommendations to commercial banks and regulatory agencies to improve deposit mobilization of Vietnamese commercial banks and meet the demand for capital use and safety of the banking system during the economic recovery period and in response to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
